Founding Partner

Joseph “Joey” Fuson has spent his career as a trial lawyer defending clients accused of crimes and representing those severely injured. Born and raised in Middle Tennessee, Joey graduated cum laude from the University of Tennessee – Knoxville before earning his J.D. at Nashville School of Law. In 2009, he partnered with Mark Freeman to form Freeman & Fuson Law.
Mr. Fuson focuses heavily on criminal defense, particularly DUI and marijuana defense cases. He is also the founder of the Hemp Law Group, Tennessee’s only practice dedicated to clients in the state’s emerging cannabis industry. Over his career, he has represented clients in more than 30 counties across Tennessee.
Mr. Fuson is an active member of the Tennessee Association of Criminal Defense Lawyers (TACDL) and has completed both the Trial Attorney’s College and the Advanced Trial Skills College. He frequently represents students from Vanderbilt University, Belmont, Lipscomb, and Tennessee State University facing criminal citations in Nashville.
